Judith Brenner is an IBCLC Lactation Consultant with 20 years experience supporting breastfeeding families. She visits parents at home and in hospitals across South West London and is also happy to do online consultations, offering kindness and support to empower breastfeeding confidence. Judith is also an artist.
A qualified IBCLC since 2011, I originally trained with the NCT and have worked with new parents since 2001. I now practise as an independent lactation consultant and I usually run a weekly breastfeeding drop-in at a Childrens’ Centre in Barnes. I offer evidence-based information in a ‘parent-centred’, compassionate approach to help you to gain confidence in your instincts throughout your breastfeeding journey. I have experience in all aspects of breastfeeding support, including low milk supply and tongue-tie and I use recent research for my approach to positioning and attachment, adapting to the mother and baby dyad.
I can also offer an antenatal breastfeeding information session as well as packages of ante and postnatal visits.
I have experience in all online video platforms and offers support after the initial session by phone and text at no extra cost.
I have 3 grown up children of my own, all of who presented their own feeding challenges, which I believe helps me to be empathetic and non-judgemental! I am a professional artist too and work from a studio in Wimbledon

I can’t say enough good words about Judith. When I was at my lowest - bleeding, sore nipples, unable to get dressed as my breasts were so sore, dreading the baby waking for the next feed - Judith came to the rescue. I had genuinely thought I would have to give up breastfeeding as I could not get past the pain during the first week. But Judith came to the house with her warm, friendly, wise and reassuring presence, and within an hour had me feeding again with almost no pain. The position she showed me plus other tips and guidance allowed me to feed my baby after a terrible night of constant pumping and bottle-feeding. After that, things got better and I was able to continue with my much-wanted breastfeeding journey, of course with a few more ups and downs. Judith was also available on WhatsApp and by video and phone call between visits, which was incredibly comforting to know as the night approached and the feeding fears kicked in once more. Knowing I could always call on Judith absolutely kept me sane. I’m still so surprised that the biological nurturing position Judith showed me is not more widely taught. It really was transformative for me at a very difficult time. My family and I do feel very much indebted to lovely Judith for all her help. She is wise, supportive, kind and warm, all the things you need when you’re feeling vulnerable in those early days.
I've been meaning to write for ages to thank you properly for your help with breastfeeding Arthur, but seeing things about World Breastfeeding Week prompted me! I am so grateful for your support and kindness. Looking back I'm not really sure how things would have gone if I'd not spoken to you. The laid back feeding worked really well for us and it turned breastfeeding into something that we've both really enjoyed and it's been a calming, bonding, special time for us. I saw a statistic that only 1% of UK mothers exclusively breastfeed for the first 6 months, and I'm so proud and lucky that I can say I've managed that with Arthur and I've been able to provide that for him. It means so much to all of us that we've been able to do that, so thank you!
Arthur is 7 and a half months now and throwing lots of food on the floor, starting crawling and chattering like crazy! We're very much in love and cherish his smiley face every day!
We saw Judith after a 5 day stint in hospital post birth which left both me and Xaver completely exhausted and out of sync. I had totally underestimated how much I would struggle breastfeeding - and the time in hospital totally destroyed my confidence in my ability to sync in to what my new little baby needs. Judith arrived and cast an immediate calming presence - listening and helping me process those early days. After the first session we finally began to understand the feeding dance - and helping us hear those gorgeous gulping sounds. The second session she helped us find our perfect pose and gave me the tools, advice and kind words to help me build confidence on our feeding journey. Judith - we can’t thank you enough.
As a new mum struggling with breastfeeding during the coronavirus lockdown, I really valued being able to do a video call with Judith to get some advice. Doing it over Skype worked really well. Judith was brilliant, suggesting a new technique which has transformed my breastfeeding experience. Thank you Judith!
