Kate Burgess
Kate is a Calm Birth hypnobirthing teacher and a qualified midwife. She works across London, Surrey & Hampshire and is also very happy to do online and phone consultations.
I am a Calm Birth Hypnobirthing teacher as well as qualified midwife. I qualified in hypnobirthing after completing the Calm Births Training programme, which is accredited by The Royal College of Midwives (RCM). This course has been designed to prepare both you and your birth partner to give you the knowledge and tools to help you stay in control of your birth.
I want to empower and support you to feel confident about your pregnancy and beyond. Educating you about your body and how it works together with your baby during birth. I believe my passion for women’s health, the culmination of years of experience as a midwife and being a certified hypnobirthing practitioner will enable me to empower you to achieve the birth safe, calm and confident birth that you have dreamt about.
My aims are:
- To educate women and their partners to make informed evidence-based decisions about pregnancy, birth and into family life
- To support you to understand your body and baby and how you can have a calm, positive and relaxed birth experience
- To ensure your feel prepared for labour and birth, however, this may look
- To feel supported about starting your new family life
- To know what is important to get ready for your birth

"Doing the course was brilliant. It helped us feel in control going to the process, instead of feeling anxious and worried. The reassurance, techniques and advice offered by Kate were empowering. The most helpful part of the course was having the full attention of an experienced and knowledgeable midwife. Kate answered countless questions before, during and after the birth of our daughter Lettie. The course was excellent. Kate you are brilliant."
J.A. (Hypnobirthing Course during third pregnancy)
"Despite having two good births, the wider macro (COVID-19) context and some bad stories since have made me very nervous when I was approaching my third birth. I hadn’t had time to consider how to approach birth or get the right mind set. Whilst nothing had changed in the wider backdrop of uncertainty, having had Kate’s invaluable coaching has made me feel much less vulnerable and fearful than I otherwise would have. I now feel that I have a toolbox to take into my labour with me and I am able to approach my birth in a more positive mind-set. There is so much of the course helped me. To ask Kate very honest questions about my fears and got very honest, experienced and medical- where appropriate answers. I really enjoyed the chance during each session to experience the relaxations and Mp3’s as well as having an understanding of the breathing techniques. I loved the Ping-Pong ball and balloon exercise- I will be thinking of this during my labour. Thank you so much Kate for all your support during these uncertain times. Your help and support has been invaluable."
