Tina Perridge

Tina is midwife who is passionate about offering evidence based, kind, supportive care to women during the most important period of their lives. She specialises in postnatal care and breastfeeding support.

Becoming a midwife was like beginning a new life for me. For the pregnancy and birth of my fourth child, I had been looked after by an independent midwife and the experience was life changing. I have been a midwife for over 20 years, always offering continuity of care and I am particularly passionate about postnatal care and breastfeeding support as I believe that this aspect is often overlooked and is crucial to a woman’s wellbeing.

Whilst I will care for the whole family, for me, it is really about the woman, ensuring that she feels supported and nurtured, able to make her own choices, so that she can relax and enjoy this time, recover and care for her baby, safe in the knowledge that I will be with her every step of the way.

I also teach antenatal preparation classes.

Private Midwife

Postnatal care: 2 weeks care.

An initial booking appointment; an opportunity to discuss your pregnancy so far, your birth plans and any concerns, then we can help you to plan the postnatal period, ensuring that you are aware of what to expect, how to contact us and tips to avoid any initial problems..

Intensive visits in the first 4-5 days; we will visit when you return from hospital with your baby, offering frequent visits in the first 4-5 days. Many couples find this period somewhat overwhelming and we aim to help you to feel more at ease, getting off to a good start to avoid problems later. This is often the time when feeding problems emerge and our aim is to provide you with day to day consistent support.

• We check on your own health and recovery as well as the wellbeing of the baby.

• Generally there is a strong focus on establishing breastfeeding and we are all very skilled in this aspect, however, we are equally happy to support you with alternative feeding.

• We carry out the newborn blood spot test on day 5 and monitor the weight of your baby.

• We continue to visit at intervals until about day 12. (7 postnatal visits in all). During this time we are also available to you by phone for any worries, questions or concerns.
